Quote: "My mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.' To this day, especially in times of disaster, I remember my mother's words, and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers — so many caring people in this world." ~ Mr. Rogers

[00:00:00] Hello, hello, hello, and welcome to another episode of Wonder Boldly. Today I'm coming in really unexpectedly, I didn't have this episode planned at all, but I wanted to use this tool that I have in podcasting to share a message that I felt was really important. And that message is that when bad things happen in the world, Look around and you can see people helping.
And currently right now, at the time of this recording, California, specifically the Los Angeles area, is experiencing devastating fires. And it, quite honestly, I'm not in that area, I'm in the Boston area. I have friends that do live in L. A. And, quite honestly, I've felt a little lost. Paralyzed by the news Pretty sad about it But again, my friends that are in LA are safe.
I'm safe and I thought what can I do to help? So I thought I would take the opportunity because I have this podcast to share That there are simple things that we can do To let people know we're supporting them, let people know we're thinking of them. Obviously there are funds that you can donate to.
I can't speak to which ones are ones that we can all feel safe donating to. There's always that sort of feeling of when these Devastating things happen and funds are accounts are created so that people can donate. It all starts with good intention and then you hear The negative, like the scams that are out there and so forth.
So I'm not here to say that here are some good ones. I'm not even going to get into that, but you do your own research. If that's something you want to do, donate.
As I always say, you do you. But what we can do is to reach out, offer, our thoughts, extend an open invitation to connect, whether that is via a zoom call, via a phone call, text message, anything like that, reaching out, letting people know that we're thinking of them.
You can leave audio messages. If you have friends in that, the area, and you know that they are on Instagram or some social media platform, you can reach out to them in that way. You see so many people coming on saying thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers, and it really means more than you know. so these are simple things that we can do.
And also,You might not know anyone in L. A. But you probably know somebody who does. So even reaching out to people who are connected to folks in L. A. who are going through some devastating times. Reach out. It doesn't take a lot of time. It doesn't have to take any money.
Do what you can. Maybe you have a platform. Maybe you can send a message on your platform, on your Instagram, on your Facebook. Whatever it is that speaks to you and feels right for you, let's collectively come together and support our fellow humans. I'm thinking about all of you and wishing you well. If you have any questions for me, please reach out.
Any other ideas, please share them. Thank you. I so appreciate you. Thank you for listening and we will be back here with another episode of amazing people doing amazing purposeful work.
